Existential Questions, Spirituality, and Faith

I am not a Christian counselor. When I talk about spirituality or faith, I mean your personal sense of meaning, purpose, identity, and hope. Sometimes that includes religion, but not always! This space is about what feels true to you.

I continue to be deeply moved by the tension I see in religious spaces: the coexistence of unconditional love and intense shame…. It is a contradiction that stays with (and, often, torments) people, especially those who grew up in strict, highly religious, or spiritually intense environments.

Sometimes therapy for anxiety, depression, trauma, or relationship issues, focuses on managing symptoms but avoids the deeper questions underneath. Who am I without this belief system? What do I actually believe? Why do I feel fear or guilt when I try to change? What parts of my faith still feel comforting, and what parts feel harmful?

I work with adults who are healing from religious trauma, deconstructing their faith, navigating spiritual transitions, or trying to reconnect with parts of their spirituality that still feel grounding. I also support people experiencing existential anxiety, identity confusion, shame, or grief connected to religion or major life changes.

I will never suggest a belief system or push any religious agenda. We only talk about spirituality if and when you want to. This is your therapy. Your values. Your pace.

If you are looking for a therapist who understands faith deconstruction, religious trauma, spiritual abuse, or the emotional weight of leaving or redefining religion, you do not have to figure it out alone. These are tender, complicated things. You deserve a safe place to sort through them with care.

If this feels like the kind of support you have been needing, you can reach out by phone or email. I would be honored to walk through it with you.
